We’re only two shows in, but Simon Cowell is already thinking about who he wants to book for the finale in December and that would be [drum roll please…] new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

It’s not a done deal, but the talk of the two pop stars teaming up began when Simon Cowell first told reporters last week that he thought a Britney/Demi duet was a great idea. He then told us directly, “I think with a bit of persuasion they’ll do it. I think we should probably wait ‘till the finale. But I’d love to see it happen. I think there’s a good chance. I mean, she seems up for it.”

“He’s already booked them to do a duet on the finale and he didn’t talk to them?” laughed L.A. Reid when we told him about Simon’s wishes. Demi responded, “Yeah, I don’t know anything about that, but it would be a dream come true. My life is absolutely insane right now – putting my handprints in cement and working with Britney Spears, L.A., and Simon, so if I got to sing with her I might die of happiness.”

When asked what song she would like to perform with Britney, she said, “I think it would be cool if we could do a mixture of both of our songs like mashed them up together. I think that would be really cool.”

As for Britney’s response, when she was asked about it at the premiere party Q&A, she just smiled and nodded approvingly.
